Let’s play a little game I like to call find what name doesn’t belong in this list: Troy Smith, Adrian Peterson, Brady Quinn, Steve Slaton, Ted Ginn, Chris Leak, Kenny Irons, Garrett Wolfe, John David Booty, and Marshawn Lynch. This is a list of Heisman candidates on a major sports website(cough: Fox sports) and is mirrored on most. First I’d like to go ahead and just throw out the idea that we should wait till week six or so before we start comprising a Heisman list. But back to the game, if you said John David Booty, ding ding that’s right!
I know USC is the media darling, being in L.A. and having pretty boy quarterbacks, I can understand how this can happen. Can we at least see Booty start more than ONE game against a team that went 4-7 last year including wins over Missouri State and Louisiana-Monroe! I think I heard John W. Heisman roll over in his grave when he found out some kid with one start under his belt got put on a list to win HIS trophy. I understand the current trend at USC: recruit star quarterback, win Heisman trophy, win national championship, rinse, wash, and re-Pete as necessary but can we just assume for a second that we don’t have to give at least one Heisman to every guy who takes a snap at USC.
